Capsoft today launches www.capform.co.uk, a free library of over 1,000 useful government forms aimed at the legal and business sectors.
Although this move is not directly related to Capsoft's core business of document assembly software and services, this area is not entirely alien to the company.
In September 1999, Russell Shepherd, Managing Director of Capsoft, launched www.everyform.net - a digital, legal publishing company that provided free government forms on the Internet. Within the first year, almost half of the UK's legal firms had registered on the website. In 2001, Shepherd sold Everyform to Reed Elsevier for an undisclosed seven-figure sum.
Shepherd explained: "In June of this year, Everyform customers began to get in touch with Capsoft to let us know that Reed Elsevier had withdrawn the free forms service and that a subscription was now required. On reflection I decided to repeat the previous formula by providing these government forms free of charge once again."
The premise is simple. A library of over 1000 government forms has been produced in the market leading HotDocs format. Busy professionals can now find every government form they need without fuss and at no cost.
Shepherd continued: "Establishing Capform took only a few months from inception to launch - it wasn't that difficult to do. I am in the midst of expanding the business and the development of this spin-off was a simple decision to make, since it will provide a great service for existing and new customers alike.
At Capsoft, we are fortunate in having great people, expertise and existing knowledge of creating this type of product - a useful and valuable tool that is easy to use and easily accessible. I am confident that it is an enterprise that will grow over time, and bring us many new opportunities through ownership of this important strategic space."
